'Back Pain - The Big Picture'
offer the Functional Restoration Programme aimed
to help you get the most out of life despite back pain or neck
pain. Everyone leaves with a set of skills
they can put into practice for the rest of their lives.
FRP Course Content
- Concepts – long-term
management of pain rather than an instant cure
- Understanding diagnosis and investigations
(Scans, X-rays etc.)
- Anatomy of the spine
- Pain physiology and healing – mechanisms
and timescales
- Pacing and goal setting
- Managing flare-ups of pain
- Posture
- Managing your thoughts and worries about pain
- Good and
bad habits associated with pain
- Stress management
- Exercise with and without pain. Demonstration
and practice (strengthening and stretching programmes),
plus basic muscle physiology and timescales
- Relaxation
training
- Returning to activity/ work
- Basic strength and fitness
measurement (before and after)
The course takes just 2 days (one
full day each week over two weeks) plus a two hour check-up
6 weeks later. The ideas you learn however, will remain
with you for the rest of your life.
